The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah, says there is a lagoon in the Volta Region that is home to a rare animal that lives both in water and on land.
According to him, the company is seeking investment to establish an observatory system for visitors to view the animals.
Speaking in an interview with host Kwame Dadzie on DaybreakHitz on Hitz FM, Prof. Mensah said the region has several unique eco-tourism attractions.
“They have a beautiful eco-tourism space with some amazing black goats, only black goats in the bush, not in town. They live in the wild and they all have a certain height,” he said.
Prof. Mensah further revealed that another village in the Volta Region is home to a rare animal that lives both in water and on land and resembles a deer.
“There is another village in the Volta Region where they have a certain animal that lives in the water and on land. It’s like a deer and it is very rare in the whole world. We have it here and we are looking for investment to set up an observatory system where visitors can watch them. They come out at night, so when they emerge from the lagoon, people will be able to see them,” he explained.
“When you check online, you will realise they are very rare animals, and only a few places in Ghana have them,” he added.
