Mrs. Nimeesha Gupta, wife of the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, says that although one may leave Ghana, the country never truly leaves them. As she prepares to depart, she says she will carry with her the warmth, friendship, and love she experienced during her stay.

Speaking in an interview with host Anita Akua Akuffo on TV3’s The Afternoon Show, Mrs. Gupta said, “You can leave Ghana, but Ghana never leaves you. As I prepare to depart, I am taking with me the warmth and love of the people here, who embraced me wholeheartedly and welcomed me to their family tables.

“That is something that deeply touched me. I also love the names here, I would even describe them as blessings. There’s a poem in my book titled What’s in a Name, and names like Patience, Wisdom, Charity, and Blessing truly reflect something special. That aspect of the culture really stood out to me.

“The rich culture here, the vibrant fabrics, and the sweetness of the sugarloaf pineapple, my favorite, are unforgettable. The flavor of the mangoes, the chirping of birds, and the stunning scarlet sunrises and sunsets are all things I will carry with me.

“And of course, the bold kick of shito pepper, it reminds me of Indian pickles and chutneys. Just like in India, it perfectly complements the food. Without it, the meal feels incomplete,” she added.
