Mrs. Nimeesha Gupta, wife of the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, says she has had the opportunity to visit about eight regions in Ghana. While she appreciates the unique beauty and charm of each region, the Volta Region stands out as her favorite.
Speaking in an interview with host Anita Akua Akuffo on TV3’s The Afternoon Show, Mrs. Gupta said, “I think I had the chance to visit around eight to nine regions, and each region has its own beauty and charm. However, my favorite is the Volta Region. First of all, it is easily accessible and close to Accra. The greenery, the atmosphere, and the fresh, pure air make it truly special.”
She also shared some of her memorable experiences in the Volta Region. “There were a few things I did while visiting the Volta Region. I climbed Mount Afajato, which was a thrilling and amazing experience. They say it could be grade four or five, but it felt even more challenging because the slope is really steep. It may be just about 800 meters high, but you definitely need physical strength to make the climb.”
She continued, “I also visited the Wli Waterfalls, and one thing that really fascinated me was the fruit bats on the cliffs. We often see bats here in Africa in the evenings, and I used to wonder where they all come from. Then I was able to connect the story that many of these bats come from Wli Waterfalls, travel as far as the 37 Military Hospital area, and then migrate back in the morning. I found that truly fascinating and was very curious to understand how it happens.”
“I also had the chance to visit Tafi Atome, the Mona monkey sanctuary. The monkeys are very friendly and live in the forest. With just a call from the trained guides and a banana to offer, they easily come close and become your friends. It was such a simple yet delightful experience.”
