The Tour Guides Association of Ghana on Saturday, February 21, 2026, commemorated World Tour Guides Day under the theme “Tour Guides As Peace Ambassadors” at GHANATA Senior High School in Dodowa, Accra.
As usual, the programme brought together members of the executive body, senior tour guides from both freelance and private organizations across the country, and students of GHANATA Senior High School.
The association has celebrated this day annually, but what made the 2026 edition particularly special was that it was used to honour tour guides who have delivered essential services to tourists. Tour guides are an integral part of the tourism and hospitality industry, supporting local economies, preserving cultural heritage, and making travel accessible and enjoyable for all.
In his address, the President of the Tour Guides Association of Ghana, Mr. Sam Bans, expressed gratitude to everyone present at the event. He stated, “On this special day, we recognize and commend tour guides everywhere for our essential services. We are an integral part of the tourism and hospitality industry, supporting local economies, preserving cultural heritage, and making travel accessible and enjoyable for all. Our dedication ensures that every visitor feels welcome, informed, and inspired.”
He also thanked the Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Elvis Wallace-Bruce, invited guests, staff and students of GHANATA, and fellow guides for their support.
