On December 18, 2025, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) officially reopened Nationalism Park to tourists and the general public as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s tourism sector.
The reopening is aimed at improving the December in GH experience and supporting future tourism programmes. It is also expected to boost Accra’s ability to host large-scale cultural, entertainment and heritage events, making the city more attractive to both local and international visitors.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, the Deputy Chief Executive for General Services, Ben Anane Nsiah, said “It tells the story of who we are, where we have come from and the collective vision that binds us as a people. Reopening this park sends a clear message that our heritage and history matter, and that nation-building remains a conscious responsibility.
“Tourism is no longer a soft sector. It is a strategic economic pillar, driving jobs, attracting investment, strengthening cultural diplomacy and projecting Ghana to the world,” he said.
“Tourism does not succeed in isolation. It thrives through shared responsibility, strategic partnerships and disciplined execution,” he noted, while commending staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority for their dedication.
This year demanded resilience and performance under pressure, and you delivered with professionalism and commitment. The progress we have made across destinations, events, partnerships and international positioning is not accidental,” he said.
“We are not here to manage mediocrity or preserve the status quo. We are here to build boldly, lead decisively and deliver results,” he added.
